Jean Alexandra Talazac was the son of the douanier Paul Talzac. His mother was Martha Donat. He studied at the Conservatory in Bordeaux and at the Conservatory in Paris. In 1877 he debuted at the Théâtre-Lyrique. The next year he joined the Opéra-Comique where he was Hoffmann in Jacques Offenbach's "Les Contes d'Hoffmann". He appeared in several other premieres until 1890. In 1889 he appeared at Covent Garden in London and he also sang in Monte-Carlo and Brussels. He married the opera singer Hélène Fauvelle in 1880.
