The soprano Hilda Roosevelt was the daughter of Cornelius Roosevelt (1847-1902) from New York. Her father was a cousin of president Theodore Roosevelt. Her mother was a cabaret dancer from Peru named Anais Piorque who married her father in Paris on 3 October 1878. Hildda married the novelist and poet Paul Arosa (1874-1957) in Paris in 1899. In 1900 their son Maurice was born. In 1918 she sang at the Salle Gaveau at a charity. In 1919 she first appeared at the Opéra Comique for the first time in "Manon". In 1920 she was in Ernest Moret's "Lorenzaccio". On 26 August 1922 she debuted at the Opéra of Paris in the title role of "Thaïs". In 1924 she performed in London in Isidore de Lara's "The Tree Musketeers". Events |
