Lore von Wissmann studied at the Musikhochschulke in Stuttgart from 1939. Eduard Ewen was one of her teachers. In 1942 she debuted at the State Opera in Stuttgart as Kordula in Lortzing's "Hans Sachs". She worked for thirty years at the State Opera and sang most mayor parts. In 1951 she became a Württemberg chamber singer. She appeared in Bayreuth, where she performed the part of Eva in Richard Wagner's "Die Meistersänger von Nürnberg" (1956). She sang in premieres of Hindemith, Orff and Strawinski and she appeared in Paris, Rome, Vienna and other cities. In 1961 she married the tenor Wolfgang Windgassen. Health problems forced her to pause her career from 1963 to 1965, but she was able to resume it afterwards. Family • Husband: Windgassen, Wolfgang (1961-1974) |
