Friedrich Karl Nesselrode was the son of Karl Franz Alexander Nesselrode (b.1752) and Countess Józefa Hatzfeldt-Wildenburg (1762-1816). In 1813 he became adjutant to Grand Duke Konstanty Pawlowiz (1779-1831). He married Tkla Nalecz-Górska and in 1822 their daughter Maria was born. She was later known as Maria Kalergis. During the the uprising in Poland against Russia in 1831 he was arrested because he was loyal to the tsar. After the uprising failed, he became commander-in-chief of the gendarmerie in Poland and he received the rank of lieutenant general. Meanwhile his trading in stocks and houses made him rich. After he retired he continued to live in Warsaw. He died in 1868 in that city. He was buried in the Powazkowski cemetery in Warsaw. The bust on his grave was probably created by Kaspar von Zumbusch (1830-1915).. Family Daughter: Kalergis, Maria |
