Edward James Physick was the son of the sculptor Edward Gustavus Physick (1802-1875). He attended the schools of the Royal Academy in 1847. In that year he won a silver medal for a figure of Mercury. In 1849 he received the gold medal of the Royal Academy for his relief "The Rape of Prosepine". This was shown at the Great Exhibition of 1851. He worked in London and exhibited at the Royal Academy between 1848 and and 1883. He must have visited Rome because son Edward J. Physick was born there around 1852. He died in London in 1906 and was buried at Kensal Green Cemtery. |
