Chantal Darget was the daughter of Marie Madeline Chauvet. When she was fifteen years old she had her first film role in Jean Gourget's "Zone frontière". After that she appeared in the theatre. In 1964 she returned to the cinema in Jean-Luc Godard's "Bande à part".

Her first husband was André Gintzburger and their son was the actor and author Christophe Bourseiller (b.1957). In 1957 the marriage ended in divorce and she married Antoine Bourseiller in 1958. In 1964 she appeared in his film "Marie Soleil". She died of cancer in Paris in 1988.
