Lisa Weise was the daughter of the oboist Ernst Weise and his wife Ottillie, born Zimmermann. Her father was Grand Ducal Chamber Virtuoso in Weimar. Lisa started her acting career in Metz in 1903 and played at theatres in Berlin between 1904 and 1910. In 1907 she married the factory owner Felix Stern and the marriage lasted until 1919. In that year she married the writer Fredrich Werner van Oestéren. From 1922 they lived in Berlin. In 1910 she worked at the Johan-Strauss-Theater in Vienna for a season and she returned to Berlin afterwards and worked there at the Neuen Operettentheater Schiffbauerdamm until 1917. She also appeared in München and Hamburg. She made her first film in 1910 and from 1915 to 1918 she had leading parts in several films. She appeared several times with Karl Beckersachs under the direction of Friedrich Zelnik. From about 1947 she lived with her husband in her native Weimar and she died there in 1951. |
